Need the whole document as one file? HWP to PDF

How to use HWP to JPG

  1. 1Drop the .hwp or .hwpx file on the page or click Choose a file. Password-protected files ask for the password.
  2. 2Pick JPG or PNG and a resolution. 150 dpi is a good size for KakaoTalk and other messengers; the line under the options shows the pixel size and an estimated file size.
  3. 3Tap page thumbnails to choose pages, or type a range such as 1-3, 5. Each thumbnail also has a button to save just that page.
  4. 4Choose One image per page (several pages download as a ZIP) or One long image, which stacks the pages top to bottom, then press the download button.

The page, not just the pictures in it

This tool draws the whole page: text, tables, lines, shapes and photos, with the layout of the document. That is what you want when someone asks for a screenshot of a notice, a form or a schedule. If you need the original photos stored inside the file instead, use Extract Images from HWP. To keep the document as one file with searchable text, use HWP to PDF.

Resolution and file size

An A4 page comes out at about 794 × 1123 px at 96 dpi, 1241 × 1754 px at 150 dpi, 1654 × 2339 px at 200 dpi and 2481 × 3508 px at 300 dpi. 150 dpi keeps normal body text easy to read on a phone while staying small, which is why it is the default. Use 200 or 300 dpi for small print, or if the image will be printed. JPG files are much smaller; PNG keeps text edges perfectly crisp but is several times larger. The size estimate is measured by actually rendering your first chosen page with the current settings.

One long image for KakaoTalk and blogs

One long image puts the chosen pages under each other, with an optional gray gap, so a three page notice can be sent as one picture. To make sure phones and chat apps can open it, one image is kept under 16,000 px tall and 16 million pixels in total. If your pages do not fit, they are split into several long images (part 1, part 2...) that you can save one by one or as a ZIP. At 96 dpi about 13 A4 pages fit in one image; at 150 dpi about 7. When sending in KakaoTalk, choose Original photo quality so small text stays sharp.

Private: nothing is uploaded

The document is opened and drawn in your browser with the rhwp engine (WebAssembly). The file, the images and any password never leave your device. Pages are rendered one at a time and each canvas is released right after it is saved, so even long documents can be converted with a page range without running out of memory.

Limits

  • Pages are drawn with the fonts on your device. Hancom-only fonts such as HY fonts or Hamchorom are replaced with similar Korean fonts, so line breaks can differ slightly from Hancom Office.
  • Very large selections at 300 dpi make big ZIP files. For hundreds of pages, 150 dpi or a shorter range is faster.
  • Text in the images is not selectable. For copyable text, use HWP to Text or HWP to PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Which resolution should I pick for KakaoTalk?

150 dpi works well for most documents. It gives an A4 page about 1241 × 1754 px, which reads clearly on a phone. For forms with very small print, use 200 dpi, and send the image with Original quality in KakaoTalk.

JPG or PNG?

JPG for sharing: the files are small and look the same on a phone screen. PNG if you need perfectly sharp text, for example to edit or print the image, but expect files several times larger.

Can I make all pages into one image?

Yes. Choose One long image. Pages are stacked top to bottom. If the result would be taller than 16,000 px, it is split into several long images so phones can still open them.

Does it work with HWPX and password-protected files?

Yes. Both .hwp and .hwpx work. For a password-protected file, enter the password; it is checked in your browser only.

Is my document uploaded?

No. Opening the file, drawing the pages and building the ZIP all happen in your browser.
